Commitment to Our Community

Major Programs

The members of San Jose Fire Fighters are involved in your community through a number of major programs and organizations, including:

Other Programs

In addition to our major programs, which feature the ongoing annual involvement of hundreds of San Jose Fire Fighters, we also sponsor and participate in many smaller or one-time events.

Please visit our FaceBook, Twitter or Instagram for recent and upcoming events – we always have several just around the corner.

A very small sample of those in the recent past include:

Turning Wheels

Partnering with Turning Wheels for free bike donation, building and repair clinics.

United Way

Partnering with the United Way to build and support a new Kaboom! playground, garden and outdoor classroom for the children at the Aptitude Community Academy.

Relay for Life

Forming teams to walk and raise money at American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Event.

Christmas Tree Giveaway

Partnering with San José City Councilmembers for community events, such as the Great Christmas Tree give-away event hosted by San Jose District 5 Councilmember Magdalena Carrasco in East San José.

State Assembly Member and Senators

Partnering with State Assembly Member and Senators for community events, such as with Assemblymember Evan Low and the West Valley Presbyterian Church to host Holiday Gift Events for those in need. Fire Fighters provided food, refreshments and free portraits to the guests in attendance. Kids enjoyed a holiday craft station and of course toy give-a-way.

Individual Involvement

In addition to being involved through our own organizations or through partnerships with other organizations, many members of San Jose Fire Fighters are individually involved with your community.
  • They are your little league coaches.
  • They are elected officials, sitting on School Boards and on City Councils.
  • They serve food in neighborhood food kitchens.
  • They can be found participating in litter pick-up programs.
  • They are part of your Neighborhood Associations.
  • They volunteer as teacher assistants and tutors.
The members of San Jose Fire Fighters are not only trained firefighters, but also part of the backbone of our community.
